History of Mobberley: page 16: gives a possible planting date --- the fine old yew tree in the churchyard was probably planted in Saxon times--- The circumference c1950 was 11’ - 4”, with a spread of 63 ft. In 2004 at 1m above local ground level the circumference was measured (RGG) at 11’ - 8” ( 3.556 m) with the spread being much the same.
