Thought to have been planted in the year 727#. Referenced in “A History of Mobberley” p16. where girth stated to have been 11’-4” and spread 63’; publication date c1950.
Today (17/03/04) girth measured as 11’-8” (3.556) @0.7m +GL. Spread much the same.
# ? Source of info. This date is in doubt from evidence on Leicester C.C website which indicates that the tree is approx. 308 years old i.e nearly 1000 years later. See other work by Mr Parry?
