Transport and Environment
7.30 pm Tuesday 4 September 2008
The Rajar Building, Town Lane, Mobberley.
To explain in a little detail what to expect, we shall briefly explain where we are and where we are going. Some 450 completed Surveys have been received and the answers, comments and suggestions analysed to draw up a shopping list. The intention at the Open Meeting is for it to operate as a workshop and consider this shopping list and give direction, and where possible add detail, to the broad topics. We hope we can establish where there is support, or otherwise, that can be translated into recommendations, ‘policies’ or required actions in the Parish Plan. We will then go away and draft this section of the Plan that should be available for further consultation around the end of the year. The evening format will be split into two, with the first session considering Transport related topics. This will be followed by a break for light refreshments, when you will be able to chat with each other, as well as members of the Parish Plan Steering Committee. At the start of the second session we can add anything that has arisen during the break and then move to discuss our Environment.
So more specifically, what shall we look at at the Open meeting? The following list covers the broad topics raised by you in the Surveys.
Sustainable development. (Within this context we have adopted the Bruntland definition of sustainabilty, which broadly speaking seeks us to live today in a way that imposes no addition costs or limitations on the way the next and subsequent generations are able to live.)
Pollution: noise, air quality and light.
Waste and recycling.
Improvements to the landscape and natural environments.
Please give some thoughts between now and the meeting as to how you think our Plan could and should address these topics. We look forward to seeing you on 4 September 2008.
